Happy TenThirteen Day, the Most Important Date in the Calender of a Morleysaurus - the Birth of X Files Creator Chris Carter!

So today, the 13th October, or TenThirteen, is without a doubt, the most significant date in the calendar of a Morleysaurus.

On this day, my God was born.  His name is Chris Carter, and he changed my life.  First came The X Files, and then Millennium, all through his production company TenThirteen. :)

Because of the brilliance of this man, I have forged friendships with people I never would have met, or at least engrossed into further obsessive conversation with.  Half of my personality is because of this man!  Lol.  Chris Carter taught my teenage self to question everything, and to NOT trust the government, something which has definitely come in handy with my recent delving into politics!

My X Phile nerdery has even been written about in Starburst Magazine, a magazine I used to buy FOR X Files stuff.  Heehee. :)

"She also possesses an amazing ability to link anyone and everything to The X-Files..."

It is kind of perfect that my mini-me Kady was born on this day too.  Today she turned 9, EEEP!!  AND....it is also my cousin Dominique's birthday too.  So Happy Birthday to Chris, Kady and Dom! :)

Oooh, and big congratulations on the new Millennium comic that Chris Carter and Joe Harris are collaboration on, that is a big win for the Back to Frank Black campaign! :)

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* Mother FUCKING X Files Creator Chris Carter is BACK!!!!!! New Amazon Originals Series The After Now Available to Watch on Amazon and Lovefilm!

Just a wee edit to say that The After got picked up by Amazon Studios! *WOOT* So now we just need to wait for them to complete filming for the series to be released.  Cannot fucking wait!  Almost as exciting as the prospect of a new X Files movie.  Heehee. :)

Holy fuck....he's back.  He's REALLY back!!  The most significant, and important man in the history of the universe of all time....like EVER!!!  And already he has me thinking, he has me researching.  He has ME!!  End of.  I am, of course, talking about Chris Carter....the man responsible for either directly, or indirectly, for almost every great showrunner on TV today!

Any X Phile will realise that I took my name Morley from Cancer Man's cigarette brand in The X Files, and in my niece Kady I have the ultimate 1013 child.  Carter nerds can read my birthday blogs to Chris and Kady here and here.  The picture below is from the afternoon just after I met Chris and Frank and then went to the London dungeon, and I seen this!!  :)

As a fan, one of the general rules, is that you  never meet your idols.  Because let's face it...how many people really live up to our expectations?  That being said...I met my idol.  I met the man I have worshipped since 1993, and his partner in crime, Frank Spotnitz...and they didn't disappoint!

Considering that they changed my life, admittedly taking away a huge part of my social life, haha...but helped transform this little nerd, into the BIGGEST fucking nerd on the face of the planet!!  Heehee.  Not only did they change my life, but they changed TV, for the fucking better.

You would expect people who were THAT influential would have at least a little bit of an air of cockiness!!  But no....Chris and Frank were two of the single most humble men I have ever met!  And that just made me love them all the more!  :)

(Pictured above - Me and Rex in London after meeting Chris and Frank at Forbidden Planet and recreating a scene from The X Files, Tooms.)

So anyhoo, I am sooooo freakin' excited to nerd over the fact, that after a long absence, Chris Carter is finally fucking back!  And he's like...REALLY REALLY back!!  Instantly sucking me back into that Carter like vortex of awesome.  A world where intelligence and understanding is key.  A world where things are never always as they seem.  A world where I can squee at random super nerdy references...and squee with glee!

His new pilot, The After, is part of the Amazon Originals programming where basically they select certain shows to pilot, and then it's down to the audience to vote for their favorites, and the ones that they want to see develop into a full series.  This is a brave move, although it's actually really cool because it means that people all over the world can watch the pilot on Amazon or LoveFilm, and then vote and comment on it to influence Amazon's decision whether to keep it or not.  So basically, it's not all down to the viewing statistics of American audiences as to whether to cancel or not.  We all have a say!!  That means NO illegal streaming.  This isn't a case of streaming in the UK because it airs here totally ages after the States.  This is also neither a case of just watching online because you have a "website" you go to.

As a hardcore X Phile, I have devoted a large part of my life to the work of Chris Carter, and I have seen shows such as Millennium and The Lone Gunmen cancelled way before their time.  Yet shitty crap gets series after series.  And this is NOT cool!!

And speaking of Millennium......The After is OOOOOZING Millennium references.  And then my personal favourite of the episode..."What's a Ten Thirteen?"  *giggles*

Anyhoo, my friend Troy of TV Wise had the pleasure of interviewing Mr Carter, and it's a totally ace interview that I thoroughly recommend!!  You can check it out here

"TVWise: The After includes the use of the Ouroboros which was an important aspect to the mythology of Millennium. Was that symbol something you chose to include on purpose?
Chris Carter: Yes. Using that symbol was no accident and it will definitely come into play."

So remember....that this is of the UTMOST FUCKING IMPORTANCE.  You MUST watch Chris Carter's new show The After, on Amazon, or Lovefilm if you're in the UK.  And then VOTE for it!!  And comment, comment, comment!!!  And let's hope that there are enough smart people around the world that do the same, and that Amazon then listen.  :)

19 Year Anniversary of the Death of Jeffrey Dahmer! ,

So we have just passed the 19th anniversary of the murder of Jeffrey Dahmer, my ultimate serial killer fascination, yesterday, the 28th November.

"In those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."  - Revelation 9:6

I admit, to some my love of Dahmer may come across rather morbid, but I never actually mean it to be like that.  I am just utterly fascinated by just how far he was willing to go, just to not be left alone. I just find his story to be really sad.  Both for his victims, their families, his family, and Dahmer himself.

I mean, just put yourself in his position....so desperate to not be on your own you try to create your own fucking zombies. The act of a sane man of course!  Dahmer was only caught after a potential victim got away and alerted the police to him.  By this point it was like he wanted to be caught.  Tracy Edwards, who was 32 at the time may have escaped his fate at the hands of Dahmer, but tragically he never received any counseling or anything to help him deal with the whole media circus that enveloped him the moment those policemen entered Dahmer's apartment.

Edwards was sentenced in January 2012 after being involved in the death of a homeless man like himself, after he was pushed to his death off a bridge by a third homeless man.  Edwards was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, along with 2 years extended supervision.  One can only hope that this time in jail is theraputic for Edwards, who essentially still died that day he escaped Dahmer.  You can read my thoughts on how mortified I was to learn that Edwards received no post traumatic stress disorder therapy from the state of Wisconsin in a blog I wrote after his arrest.  One of my main points that I make, is one that X Files God Chris Carter made in the X Files Episode, Irresistible, which was based on Dahmer, featuring the character of Donnie Pfaster (pictured below), who later re-appeared in season 7 episode Orison.

"People wondered why it took them so long to catch this kid in Milwaukee. Thought someone should have noticed he was killing all those young boys. The truth is, no one ever believed it could happen."

Now I have written about Dahmer a bunch of times in the past, including how he inspired Chris Carter to create the Donnie Pfaster character and was  his inspiration for Millennium.  Rather than regurgitate the same old feelings again, why not just link you to a bunch of stuff I've done before. :)  For a blog I wrote at the 20th anniversary of his capture, you can find it here.

And in fact, I loved the soundtrack that much that after I discovered you couldn't buy it, I totally went all stalkypants on the lovely ladies that did the music, and when I bought their album This Side of North, they sent me the Dahmer OST free.  I then became friends with one of them, Christina Agamanolis, and in fact did an interview with her regarding her music and working on the film and stuff as part of my Women in Horror Recognition Month blogs.  So yes, please do take a moment to check out all this stuff, especially if you're as morbidly curious as I am.  And total Millennium loving X Philes.  :)

And last but not least, I would like to reiterate, I do not condone what Dahmer did, but I do find it utterly fascinating.  To quote the tagline from the David Jacobsen flick -

The Mind is a Place of its Own.

Happy Birthday to my Niece Kady, a Truly Awesome Ten Thirteen Child. And the Main Man Himself, the Original Showrunner You HAD to Follow - Mr Chris Carter!!

Happy Birthday Kady Cooper
and Chris Carter!!!

So today is the birthday of not only my super awesome mini-me niece Kady, who is 8 today...it is also the birth of the original Ten Thirteen man, the man that is basically God in my eyes...of course I'm talking about original California surf boy and creator of The X Files...Mr Chris Carter!!  I mean let's face it, trust me to have my niece, and the only mini-me I need (screw having my own kids, haha) to be born on Chris Carter's birthday...such an important date in the life of an X Phile!!  I'm sure my fellow Phile sister Moosey will totally agree.  ;)  And if you check out the pics of Kady getting her little surfer chick on...she really IS a mini Chris Carter!  Bwah!  My sister Suz, Kady's mum, is a total  Whedon'ite so it makes it kinda funny that's she's a Phile baby!!  Oooh, the powers that be.......spoooooooky!!! ;)

Anyhoo, everyone keeps going on about Vince Gilligan and Kurt Sutter and how it's so rare for fans to follow the name of a series creator.  Well....first of all....Vince Gilligan started out on The X Files, and credits it fondly as to why he is the master showerunnr he is today.  Chris Carter however, hell....he was the original.   Before Whedon...before Lindelof and Abrams.  Chris Carter is, in my humble opinion, responsibe for all the amazing TV we have available to us today.  He is a true God in my eyes, and it makes me so nerdy happy that my little Kady~toes shares the same birthday.  :)  You can tell by her imagination.  She really does have a truly unique imagination.  And one that Chris would so be proud of.

Anyhoo, I asked one of Chris Carter's original men, and one of my all time favouite actors....and one that pretty much my whole family love, Mr Terry O'Quinn, also known as Peter Watts in Chis Carter's Millennium (and starred in not only one, but two episodes of The X Files...and The X Files Movie) and John Locke in J.J. Abrams Lost to do a birthday shout out to Kady on his Twitter, and being the wonderful man he is; he happily obliged.  He really is truly awesome!!  I noticed that just below I had yet another of Chris Carter's boys...and one that Kurt Sutter has recently got his paws on, the one and only Robert Patrick, aka Agent Doggett...aka the freakin' T1000, he'd favourited dorky tweets I send him.  Man I love these guys!

Lol, Kady was the first person to witness the effect that Terry O'Quinn had to me on Lost.  Haha.  She was the first one to walk in after the Lost finale...at like 6.30am UK time, to the emotional wreck of her dorky auntie.  HA!  She's a child with taste...and despite how much Buffy brainwashing her mommy gives her...I can't wait for her to start getting addicted to Mulder and Scully...and then Lost.  Moooahahahaha.

So yes, Happy Birthday to you wonderful creative individuals that make such a difference in the life of Little Miss Morleysaurus.  :) xo

An Open Plea to ABC to NOT Cancel 666 Park Avenue - The Reason...Terry O'Quinn in the Perfect Role as the Devil!!

The first time I really noticed Terry O'Quinn was rather perfect...it was in The X Files episode Aubrey. For the casual X Files viewer, this was the episode where victims were appearing dead with the word SISTER carved out on their chest. Aubrey is the very definition of classic X Files and the dark and twisted nature of this episode made it truly perfect for Chris Carter to then cast Terry O'Quinn as Peter Watts, in his sister show to The X Files, Millennium.

Millennium tells the story of freelance forensic profiler and former FBI agent Frank Black (Lance Henriksen), a man who assisted the shadowy Millennium Group hunting serial killers and murderers using his unique ability to see into the minds of these monsters. Terry O'Quinn played Millennium Group member Peter Watts, former assistant director of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force...a dark and mysterious man of very few words who like Frank, left the FBI to join The Millennium Group in the hope of gaining a better understanding in such a dark and chaotic world. Peter Watts later becomes a senior member of the group and works with Frank Black on a number of group Group assigned cases, however we are never completely sure of his motives and whether to trust him.

Millennium was a much darker show than The X Files and I remember reading years ago that Chris Carter said he had the idea for the show when he did The X Files episode Irresistible. Irresistible featured “death fetishist” Donnie Pfaster (pictured below), played with absolute menacing relish by Nick Chinlund and was based on my ultimate most fascinating serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer. The network wouldn't allow for the character of a necrophiliac so Chris Carter had to go with a death fetishist, which in my humble opinion, worked just as well...and was actually possibly even creepier!!  Nick Chinlund's appearances in The X Files playing such an epic character, it meant that when he appears in 666 Park Avenue playing a nemesis of Terry O'Quinn, it is impossible to not get a massive X Phile grin on my face!!  :D

It was playing Peter Watts that I absolutely fell in love with Terry O'Quinn and I loved it that he was in The X Files movie, and later in Season 9 episode Trust No One.

Years later when LOST was first announced and I read that not only Mr O'Quinn, but also Dominic Monaghan (yay to Hobbits!!) were going to be in a show from Felicity and Alias creator J.J. Abrams...I had to check it out!! From the very first second I was hooked. And like the devoted nerd that I am...I stayed hooked and true, right till the very end!! With LOST, Terry O'Quinn played yet another of my all time most favourite characters...John Locke!! A man who, like Peter Watts...has numerous layers to him. BWAH!

So anyhoo, fast forward all these years later, past Millennium and The X Files...past LOST...and we come to the present where Terry O'Quinn is playing yet another wickedly awesome character, Gavin Doran.

666 Park Avenue centers around young couple Jane and Henry who move into The Drake building at 999 Park Avenue as resident managers.  Henry is a lawyer who works for the mayor and right from the outset when after hiring Jane and Henry, Gavin turns to his wife Olivia (played with equal relish by Vanessa Williams) and says that through Jane, that's how they get Henry...we know that Gavin is out for political gain.

Gavin isn't your usual millionaire building owner though, and the residents of 999 Park Avenue aren't your usual tenants.  The Drake is a building in which living in, your dreams can come true...if you are willing to pay the price!!  To me, 666 Park Avenue is like, if Hitchcock did The X Files.  You know, dark and mysterious men.....sexy blondes, smart and stylish and then with that demented twist that you would expect from standalone X Files episodes.  :D  Which is pretty fucking awesome!!  And the scenes with Terry O'Quinn and Nick Chinlund, they make me want to scream with delight, they're absolutely wonderful!!

Terry O'Quinn is without a shadow of a doubt, perfectly cast as the devil.  I mean, he has the charm and charisma, he's handsome and he is wonderful at portraying the darkest impressions of the human soul.  He has spent his career playing characters that always had so much more than initially meets the eye.  ABC were onto a surefire certified pile of awesome when they gave the go ahead for 666 Park Avenue, and to think that now they have cancelled it, despite the fact that it's proving to be popular, it's ridiculous!!  You don't cast Terry O'Quinn in such an amazing role and then cancel the series after it's only been airing for like 6 episodes or something, that's absurd!!

One of the main problems that is hitting 666 Park Avenue, is that people are recording it to watch later.  ABC does not count those viewers, which, to me...is completely ridiculous.  Even if they counted the viewers that watched it within a week and averaged that out...I bet the numbers would be a lot higher and they'd realize that there is a fan base for this wicked awesome show!!

It's great that you love it, the only problem is DVR doesn't help the ratings, so unfortunately we're only doing 13 eps.. ever...

There are, I assume, several episodes of 666 still to be aired. How about everybody watch them live and see what happens! Just curious...

So what can we, as the fans do about this whole cancelled situation??  Should we sit back and do nothing...just accept it!??  Hells NOOO!!!

Tonight when it airs, at 10pm on ABC, let's get everyone to watch it live!!  Now, as I'm in the UK, my viewership on any American/Canadian show doesn't count...unfortunately!! :/  Does that stop me from annoying the heck out of the networks....of course not, haha!!  There are various ways you can help get this campaign to save the show noticed.  First and foremost, obviously watching it when it airs at 10pm on Sunday nights.  You can also LIKE and support the Facebook group Save 666 Park Avenue.

Another way to bring attention to the show is to get it trending on both GetGlue and Twitter.  By using the hashtags #Save666Park as well as #Save666ParkAve, we can all let ABC know that we love the show and want more episodes.  The official ABC Twitter for the show is @666ParkAve_ABC and their hashtag for the show is simply #666ParkAve  By checking into GetGlue, not only can you get exclusive sticker from the show, you will be helping to have it trending in a place a show this awesome should be!! :D

Whilst looking for all the ways to help save the show, I came across this article that has more ways, including snail mail to ABC and links to petitions as well, go check it out.  :)

So yes people...let's do this!!  We can't let ABC drop all this awesome without a fight, nope, nope, nope!!!
